ACTS OF REMORSE, RESOLUTION AND RESTORATION

GATHERING (Instrumental music played on CD player.)

THOUGHTS FOR CONSIDERATION

Those of us seeking healing, seeking hope, seeking life, God has time for us!

Not for those who do know, but those who need to know, the unbounded and unlimited

love and compassion generosity and grace of God, God has time for us!

OPENING

Leader: The Holy One is here.

All: His Spirit is with us.

Leader: And (insert the person’s name), you are welcome in this place.

SCRIPTURE  (Matthew 6.22, 23: Jesus said, “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness.”)

TIME OF REMEMBERING THAT WHICH BROUGHT SHAME AND REGRET

ACT OF REMORSE

PERSONAL ACKNOWLEDGEMENT  (As others are drawing on the mirror, use this opportunity to consider silently about those things that seem to get in the way of you seeing God clearly.)

MUTUAL ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:

Forgive us God, for the things we have done that makes us feel uncomfortable in Your presence and in the presence of our family and friends.  We admit with bitterness and true shame, that which has weighs heavy in our hearts and souls, understanding that war has never left us.  We deceived ourselves thinking that we could avoid hell but in reality we lived in hell.  We were lied to and we lied, we experienced loss and brought loss onto others, we felt pain and caused pain, we reigned death onto others and now at times feel dead ourselves.  Our souls have been wounded and our confidence changed.  Forgive us when we think You have abandoned us or You are punishing us.  Open our ears to hear Your call of hope and our eyes to signs of Your love.  Make us willing to be changed as we open our souls for You to do surgery and the therapy for our healing.  For this we pray in the name of the One who calls us His own.  Amen.

ACTS OF RESOLUTION

Reading from Matthew 5.14-16

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING

We have opened our hearts, souls, and lives to you, Creator, Healer and Sustainer.  We give You thanks from the depths of our souls for this time together, and for Your compassion, kindness, and blessings given to us.  Most of all, thank you for your grace which allows us to start all over.  Let nothing in life ever separate us from You!  Amen.

ACT OF RESTORATION

Leader: Life is full of ups and downs?

All: We are sustained by knowing our sister and brother warriors, and feeling connected to You.

Leader: All our guilt?

All:  We placed on the mirror.

Leader:  All our regret and shame?

All:  We erased from the mirror.

Leader:  All our hopes?

All:  The future holds promise because we now see Your Light more clearly.
